Land Rover then recommended us to their colleagues on the Jaguar site, and we were tasked with sourcing 19 multi-skilled maintenance engineers for robotics and PLC maintenance, body-in-white, trim and final, paint shop and press. We found and placed appropriately skilled people on a project-led rolling contract that lasted a full 16 months.
Jaguar Land Rover then tried something completely new. The new Land Rover 405 and 494 models were being built at the Castle Bromwich site, and Land Rover needed more suitably skilled, permanent people available to work on the line. They trained 20 new apprentices ‘on the job’ while using 25 of our contract workers to do preventative maintenance work until the apprentices were fully qualified. This novel approach proved a more flexible, efficient and cost-effective way of getting their own people skilled up, and is now being rolled out across the group.
A significant amount of planning and organisation happens long before a new model is launched and a key area of our expertise is to help you identify and plan for your skilled labour requirements on a project-by-project basis.
