Commitment to achieving Net Zero
Shorterm Limited is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.
Baseline Emissions Footprint
Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.
Baseline Year: 2017
Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.
In 2017 Shorterm set a target to reduce our environmental impact by a substantial amount, this required innovative solutions and trialling what was in many cases experimental or cutting-edge technologies. We recognise that we must all be bold and continue to drive the pressures on reducing our environmental impact and carbon footprint. Shorterm has therefore set another five-year plan, with challenging targets, to build on what we have achieved. These 2027 targets are detailed below and will be measured against the 2017 baseline.

Emissions reduction targets
In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.
• Scope 1 emissions will be reduced by 40% by 2027
• Scope 2 emissions will be reduced by 30% by 2027
• Scope 3 emissions will be reduced by 30% by 2027
We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 862.32 tCO2e by 2027. This is a reduction of 40%.
Carbon Reduction Projects
Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives
The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2017 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 62.63 tCO2e, a 4.17%ge reduction against the 2017 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract.
• Implementation of environmental management certification schemes ISO14001
• Switched to a green energy tariff
• Adoption of LED lighting controls
• Changes to policy resulting in a reduction in company travel
In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:
• Full electrification of our company vehicle fleet, reducing fuel usage that is the biggest driver of our carbon emissions.
• Introduction of a company electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme
• Installation of EV charge points at all our office locations
• Reduction in paper usage through the use of technology
