What first attracted you to Shorterm?

I had been working for a high-street recruitment agency and decided I needed a change of scene. I was particularly interested in the engineering sector because the market was so buoyant. My first impressions of Shorterm were hugely positive. I especially liked the fact that the company was extremely professional but had real personality as well.

 

What does a typical day look like?

No two days are quite the same. But there are some core activities that every day involves. These include making new business sales calls, refreshing job adverts and finding suitable candidates for current opportunities. It is a full 360-degree recruitment role, so you have to be able to manage multiple relationships and handle lots of different tasks at once. You also have to spend some time getting to know your market, as this is key to being a successful and credible consultant.

 

Your proudest achievement so far?

Earning myself a promotion last year was something I am incredibly proud of. I put it down to my ability to create new business opportunities and build relationships at all levels – although it probably wouldn’t have been possible without all the support I have received from my line manager and business leaders.

 

Would you recommend Shorterm to a friend?

Yes! For me, it’s been an opportunity to learn a brand new industry and work with some of the best people in the business. It also gives you the chance to develop high-level relationships and be a trusted advisor for both candidates and clients.
